As you might’ve already seen, 2019 was the year of self-indulgence. Maybe it’s because we finally learned that our mental wellbeing is as important as our physical one, or because we decided to focus on finding some extra me-time. Whether it’s a 20-minute face mask or a trip to the Bahamas, we all do what we can. And here at Bellabeat, we’re all for it!
With winter already chilling us to the bones, we have to focus on keeping ourselves healthy as the weather is surely working against us. This week we’re covering some of the most important health tips you can use to improve your immunity, keep your skin healthy and manage early cold symptoms.
While we’re taking care of ourselves from the inside, it’s equally important to keep our skin healthy, hydrated and glowy in the upcoming year. Cold air, snow, wind, and heating can easily disrupt its natural regenerating abilities and cause breakouts, dryness or flaking, and we all know how painful it can be.
But, there’s nothing to worry about anymore! We made sure to ask our colleagues for their tips on managing winter skincare and these are their best face masks which are really working.
1. Avocado and Egg Yolk
These simple ingredients are one of that most of us have in their fridge this time of the year. They’re not only of nutritional value but contain hydrating oils and fats which regenerate your skin and penetrate deeply into its bottom layers to keep the itchiness and flaking at bay.
Great for: all skin types.
What you’ll need:
- 1 Egg yolk
- ½ Avocado
— mash the avocado using a fork until it becomes a paste
— mix in the egg yolk until it becomes a homogenous texture
Apply the mask to your cleansed face and leave it on for 30 to 40 minutes. Use this time to do your nails, or relax a bit. Rinse with lukewarm water and apply a light moisturizer.
2. Honey and yogurt
We use honey all the time due to its proven health benefits. While we mostly put it into tea, we can also use it on our face to reap all the benefits it can bring.
Great for: Normal and Oily skin
What you’ll need:
- 2 tbs greek or full-fat yogurt
- 1 tbs organic honey
- ½ tsp cinnamon
— mix all the ingredients until you get a smooth consistency
Apply the mask to your face and leave it for 15 minutes. Once the time passes, you can either wash it off or use a gentle circular motion to make a natural peeling!
Follow with your regular moisturizer.
3. Tomato and Cucumber
Rich in antioxidants and moisture, cucumber will nourish and soothe even the most sensitive skin. Along with its calming features, it also deep cleanses your pores while tomatoes slow down again, fight off free radicals and help build up collagen.
Great for: All skin types, especially sensitive skin prone to redness
What you’ll need:
- ½ Tomato
- ¼ Cucumber
- 1 tissue
— peel and cut cucumber and tomatoes into smaller pieces
— blend them together until they have a smooth consistency
After you blend the ingredients together, take a tissue and cut it into the shape of your face while making holes for your eyes and mouth. As the mask can be watery, it’s important to have a tissue mask on hand to keep all the nourishing ingredients in contact with your skin.
Apply a generous amount to your skin and cover with a tissue mask. After you do so, apply another layer of the tomato and cucumber mask over it so it sticks to your skin.
Leave it on for 15-20 minutes and wash off using cold water.
Finish with a moisturizer.
In the end, we hope these face masks will bring nothing but joy to your skin, as they did to ours!
