LEAF

Get to know your Leaf

Leaf has become your health and well-being companion. You wear it every day, you love it, but how well do you really know it? Today we wanted to cover some ‘did-you-know’ facts about Leaf that will help you get the most out of using it.

Let the app know how you’re wearing your Leaf.

Bracelet, necklace or clip. It’s important to select the placement of your Leaf correctly in the app to get accurate results. Your Leaf will adjust its activity and sleep tracking algorithms according to the position that you select in the settings. So if you wear your Leaf as a bracelet, you will need to select its placement in the app’s settings and sync your Leaf to transfer these new settings to the Leaf itself.

Don’t forget about custom activities

Your Leaf app has over 70 custom activities you can add manually, from breastfeeding to hula-hooping. Wow-wee. Leaf will automatically track activity in the form of steps and your active time during the day. If you do an activity that is not step based or you forgot to wear your Leaf, you can always input that activity manually.

To input an activity, you will need to press the “+ Add activity” button, choose an activity and choose the start and end times. The activity will appear as a card under your activity graph and it will display the start and end times, along with the number of calories burned.

When inputting a custom activity, you will sometimes see that the number of steps decreases. This will happen for some activities that are not step-based, for instance, cycling. You will still be credited with active time for these activities, and your calorie burn will be accurate.

You can meditate anytime, anywhere, even without Leaf

The Leaf app offers meditations and breathing exercises that you can do in the app. You can choose from an extensive library of exercises, most of them offer a shorter and a longer version to choose from.

If you meditate on your own, you can choose from a list of common meditations and simply enter the amount of time you meditated manually.

If you don’t have your Leaf at hand, or if the battery is flat and you haven’t had the chance to change it, don’t despair. You can still meditate using the app. When you select a guided meditation, you can choose to have it tracked by the Leaf or not. Simply turn off the tracking and you are good to go.

You can wear as many Leafs as you like. The more the merrier.

Did you know that you can have more than one Leaf paired to the same account? This means that you can have different Leafs sync to your account and you can wear whichever one matches your outfit better. One for each day of the week, we say.

You can add a new Leaf to the app by going into the app’s Settings > Add a device, and once you pair the new Leaf, you can select which device you’d like to sync when you press the sync button. Both (or all) Leafs will track continuously and the app will intelligently merge the data so you don’t see double steps in case you’ve been wearing them all at the same time. No judgement. We do it all the time.

We hope you found this useful. Remember, if you ever have any questions about your Leaf, simply send us an email or post a question in the comments below. We are always here to help.

If I wanted to wear it around my ankle would I track relatively the same as on the wrist?

I rode my bike for an hour and logged 8 miles but the app only counted that activity as about 1,100 steps. Why? I googled what the equivalent would be and found an estimate of 7,500. I want credit for that activity and I don’t feel like what the app did was accurate.

I did set up the placement of my Leaf. But when I do activities, sometimes I wear it as a bracelet, sometimes as clip on the shirt. Do I need to setup again and again based on each activity?

Is there any reason it would spontaneously stop counting? I’ve talked to customer service a couple of times, and have been following their instructions, but I still have to unpair my leaf at least once a week because it just doesn’t record any steps or fails to track my sleep. I mostly love my leaf, but I also would like to have a record of my progress in trying to increase my daily step count.
